Doha, Qatar - 2022 May 08: General view of Lusail Stadium ahead of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 while 200DaysToGo on May 08, 2022 in Doha, Qatar.
Located 15km north of central Doha, Lusail Stadium will form the center piece of the new ultra-modern Lusail City, the construction of which is 90% completed.
As well as being situated in the heart of the city of the future, the area holds significant cultural and historical significance for the country, as it was once the home of the founder of modern Qatar, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Al Thani.
Its legacy after the global finals will see the stadium’s infrastructure converted into a community space including schools, shops, cafés, sporting facilities and health clinics.
The 80,000-capacity venue will be the largest stadium during the tournament, which will kick off on November 21, 2022 and be the first to take place in the Arab world.
