51 imagesAustralia travel to Poland desperate to return to the World Group. They may be the second most successful nation in Davis Cup history but they haven't been in the top tier of the competition since 2007. Poland, on the other hand, are in their first ever World Group play-off and will be looking to reach the top tier of the competition for the first time. Poland reached the play-off after a 3-1 victory over South Africa. They boast a Top 25 player in Jerzy Janowicz as well as a formidable doubles pair in the form of Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski. Australia have faced little difficulty in reaching this year's World Group play-off, defeating Chinese Taipei 5-0 then Uzbekistan 3-1. Bernard Tomic, recalled to the team for the last round, won both of his matches in Uzbekistan and is considered one of the top young players on the tour. The inspirational Lleyton Hewitt, Australia's best Davis Cup player, is also still involved.

23 imagesDespite finishing 6th in the ekstraklasa 2012/2013, Polonia has been relegated to the lowest level in its hundred and one year history. On the 17th of June 2013, Ireneusz Król filed for bankruptcy of Polonia Warszawa S.A. On the 20th of June 2013, Masovian Football Association (MZPN) confirmed a place in the semi-professional Masovian "Liga Okręgowa" (6th tier in Poland) for the newly formed "Polonia Warsaw" (senior) team, which was created by association of Polonia's supporters lead by Grzegorz Popielarz, and based on the youth players of MKS Polonia Warszawa, a local youth academy, which was not a part of KSP Polonia Warszawa S.A. (Ltd.) owned and destroyed by Ireneusz Król. Due to "sporting merits" MZPN along with PZPN changed their previous decision, and on 10th of July 2013 Polonia was moved up one tier, to the 4th league north (5th tier in Poland) - the bottom professional league in the National - Polish Football Association (PZPN) structure.
